Kindermusik International: A Message About Toy Safety

Recent news reports have highlighted the recall of some toys found to be unsafe. These reports have understandably raised concerns from parents. I want to be sure you know that Kindermusik shares this concern.

For years Kindermusik has gone to great lengths to assure the safety of our products. That is why parents have come to trust the Kindermusik brand. Kindermusik products are engineered to be educational, entertaining and safe before they enter into production. Production samples of each product are then rigorously tested by an independent testing lab to ensure that our toys meet the highest safety standards.

All Kindermusik products have comfortably passed international safety standards in mechanical and fire hazard tests. Our products have also been tested for potentially hazardous materials and have easily met safety standards for those materials.

Two of our core values at Kindermusik International are to Always Do What is Best for the Child, and to Be Open, Honest, and Direct. At all times, and especially at times like these, our core values guide our actions. That is why we bring this information directly to Kindermusik educators so you are well equipped to answer questions from your parents.

As you have come to expect from Kindermusik, we have taken great care to test that our products are safe, and we will continue safety testing with vigilance. Please refer any further questions regarding the safety of our toys to Kindermusik International 800-628-5687 or info@kindermusik.com.

Sincerely,
Michael G. Dougherty

Can you make a glissando?

This week the children learned a new music term: glissando. We had a lot of fun playing with glissando sounds–continuous sliding movements from one pitch to another. A glissando can go up, down, or it can even alternate up and down! Experimenting with vocal glissandos can extend the vocal pitch range of both the singing and speaking voice and it can help develop vocal expressiveness.

Where can you hear glissandos? Firetrucks? Ambulances? Police Cars? How many different ways can you make a glissando?

Exploring, exploring all around

Children naturally love to explore, and exploration leads to learning. Whether your child is a hands-on explorer, a walking explorer, a listening explorer, or a watching explorer, Kindermusik will offer him many opportunities to explore!

Just as “little fish” in the Kindermusik song “Above the Sea” is curious, so is your little one. Explore at home through singing, talking about songs, exploring vocal sounds (“bloop, bloop, bloop, bloop”), or finding new ways to wiggle or play “peek-a-boo, I see you!”

By incorporating Kindermusik activities into your daily lives, you will reinforce the learning that takes place in class. Also, your child will become more and more familiar with our activities and that familiarity will help promote a new comfort level in the classroom. See you next week!

Mirror, Mirror…who’s that in the mirror?

A baby’s expression as she sees herself in the mirror can be priceless! Such fun we had this week as the babies watched themselves (and you!) as you talked to your babies, sang songs, and continued to make bird sounds.
